Civic Commons Learning Journey: Dallas

Overcoming stigma is a common challenge for disinvested neighborhoods. In March 2017, the first Civic Commons Learning Journey took place in Dallas to explore opportunities for changing the reputation of neighborhoods. Co-hosted by Jason Roberts and Krista Nightengale of Better Block Foundation, the event allowed participants to explore the city’s Oak Cliff neighborhood by bike and on foot. Through candid conversations with advocates and leaders, participants gained a deeper understanding of the programming, communication and action-oriented civic engagement that has shifted the narrative of the neighborhood.
