On September 12 – 14, 2018 the Civic Commons Learning Network and the Detroit Civic Commons team hosted Civic Commons Studio #4: Harvesting Principles.
Studio #4 focused on Reimagining the Civic Commons as a way of working in cities. With the Detroit demonstration as a backdrop, participants experienced the work and shared learning across cities through team presentations, insider tours, provocations from thought leaders including Garnette Cadogan, Eric Klinenberg and Liz Ogbu, panel conversations, breakout discussions and a community dinner at Ella Fitzgerald Park. Conversations revolved around the themes of civic engagement, socioeconomic mixing, environmental sustainability, value creation and shared prosperity.
In addition, the Studio hosted working sessions aimed at harvesting midpoint principles through cross-city dialogues, share outs and city-to-city team interviews.
